How to Measure Your PD
What is PD?
PD stands for Pupillary Distance. It is the distance between the centre of your pupils, measured in millimetres.
This measurement ensures your lenses are positioned correctly in your glasses for the best vision and comfort.
Your PD may already be written on your prescription, but if it isn’t, you can measure it easily at home.
How to measure your PD
You will need:
• A ruler with millimetres
• A mirror
1. Stand about 20cm from a mirror.
2. Hold the ruler against the bridge of your nose.
3 .Close your right eye and align the ruler’s 0mm mark with the centre of your left pupil.
4. Open your right eye and close your left eye.
5. Read the measurement at the centre of your right pupil.
The number you see is your PD measurement.
Most adults have a PD between 54mm and 74mm.
